1)        Is Otis real or is he an amalgamation of all homeless people?  What do
         the other characters see when they look at him?  

2)        What part of himself did Chris lose at Susan’s?  Does he ever find it?  

3)        Is there a lesson to be learned in the relationship between Collette
         and Mimi?  Have you known parents and children with this sort
         of  relationship?  

4)        What do you make of the two daughters – clairvoyant or sensitive?
        How do they further the plot of the book?  

5)        Is FayNell a good parent?  A good wife?  

6)        What motivates each character and are those motivations believable?

7)        What does ‘faith’ mean to each character?  

8)        What does ‘success’ mean to each character?  

9)        Does Brother Tommy help anyone?  Who and how?  

10)       Do Gary’s actions reflect the beliefs and lifestyles of his generation?
          If so, does this bode well or ill for the future?  If not, why not?
